On Trail Hikes

"On Trail Hikes" are generally easier than the "Off Trail Hikes" we go on. This is not always the case though. There are some pretty rough trails out there and we'll rate them so you'll know what to expect before you get there. There are miles of trails throughout the Ozarks area and as we explore them, we'll post pictures and our impressions of what we find as well as maps and other helpful info so you can enjoy them too.

Pedestal Rocks

South of the Buffalo River, in the Ozark National Forest, is a great trail for a day hike. There are columns, caves, and shelters along the limestone bluff overlooking the Illinois Bayou.

The Falls at Hercules Glades Wilderness

The Falls at Hercules Glades Wilderness is wonderful spot for a day hike that will really stretch your legs. Located in southwestern Missouri's Taney County on the Ava Ranger District of the Mark Twain National Forest, it covers over 12,300 acres.

The Falls at Hideout Hollow

Hideout Hollow is located in a remote corner of the Buffalo River National Park in Arkansas. For those of you not familiar with the Buffalo River, simply put, it is a national treasure. One good trail for a day hike leads you to the top of the "Falls" at Hideout Hollow. This story also tells you how we got below the falls on an off trail bushwhack.
