There are still places here in the Ozarks where you can hike off trail. Vast forest teeming with wildlife. Hundreds of thousands of acres of tall ridges and deep hollows that offer hidden wonders for those willing to explore off the beaten path. We call hiking off trail "Bushwhacking". This is as good as hiking gets. Most of the places mentioned in the stories below are probably visited by less than 50 people a year. Some, much less than that.
